What's this on?

I saw people mention OJ on the Documentaries thread, but I assumed they meant the drama from last year!

Re: OJ Made In America
because the LA police planted evidence at the scene (the gloves that did not fit), and Johnnie Cochran gave his infamous chewbacca defense that the jury bit hook, line, and sinker.

you also have to consider the jury was made up of people who were able to serve for nearly a year, basically meaning unemployed

Fantastic show. One of the points made was that, whilst a scandalous verdict, it was no worse than the Rodney King officers acquittals. Hard to argue.

Tough going (8 hours or so)... but intriguing... I love when the verdict was given one of the many black jurors gave a black power salute as he had been a black panther in the 60's... ha ha ha!!!

OTB

On bbc iPlayer, absolutely remarkable documentary.

Re: OJ Made In America
Because no jury was going to return a verdict, that could have sent OJ to the gas chamber.

It's America. If you have sufficient, money, power and influence over the right people. you can get away with anything regardless of public opinion and international accountability. This is either terrifying or awesome, depending on your world view.

Re: OJ Made In America
It was payback - pure and simple. Cochran played a blinder with the race card and the black members of the jury were always going to find him not guilty despite the evidence.

Which was massively paid back in kind with the 'kidnapping' in las Vegas

The gloves weren't planted, but it was a massive error asking him to try them on. They had been soaked in blood and frozen and unfrozen several times during analysis.

Simpson also had latex gloves on underneath when he was trying them on. And if you look at the footage, he's purposely scrunching up his hand and making it bigger so that the gloves appear too small.

Spot on. They were his gloves - there was even a receipt for them in his name. No evidence was planted but that Furhman copper was a wrong'un.

The race card was played spectacularly by the defence at a time of extreme racial tension. The jurors admitted race was the main motivation for their decision. 9 months worth of evidence to discuss and they reached their verdict after a couple of hours of deliberation.

Massive miscarriage of justice. As was his subsequent sentence for the memorabilia "heist".

Re: OJ Made In America
But the gloves did fit he was wearing forensic gloves under them which made them slightly tight .
O J was smirking as he tried them on, he knew they were his gloves.

Re: OJ Made In America
What was funny was him getting 30 years for stealing his own memorabilia so I guess when it comes to race when you are very rich some you win, some you lose.

The defence changing all of the pictures in his house, and then parading the jury through it. Absolute cuntery of the highest order.

Cochran even used a 'Hitler' analogy. nothing was out of bounds for that cunt

Re: OJ Made In America
He really should have been called out for that. All about 'the win' though. Cunts.

Still think the Shapiro bit at the end of the trial was one of the high points. Watched an interview with him recently and think he's genuinely remorseful of how it went.
